Vinohrady Apartment
Classic mouldings meet modern furniture.
For an apartment in Prague's Vinohrady district, we made timber panelling for the window recesses, window boards and interior doors. These classically detailed elements are complemented by a modern oak bookcase framing the passage between rooms.
Window recesses with character
Solid spruce panelling follows the proportions of the windows and the depth of each recess. Panelled sections and decorative mouldings continue along the sides and across the top. Window boards and panelling below complete the surround.
A closer look
The spruce components have an opaque white lacquer finish. A consistent colour brings the surfaces together, drawing attention to the subtle changes in profile, the edges of the panels and the corner joints.
An oak bookcase around the passage
The bookcase uses the space beside and above the doorway. Simple shelf lines and the natural oak grain introduce a modern element that sits comfortably alongside the white moulded panelling.
The bookcase is built using dovetailed battens and time-tested joinery, without screws. Traditional craftsmanship underpins a piece with a simple, modern appearance.
Doors that belong to the apartment
Panelled interior doors and moulded architraves echo the character of the other timber elements. We coordinated the panel arrangement and moulding profiles so that the doors bring a natural continuity between rooms.
