Pardubice Railway Station

A new chapter for a historic hall.

The former Čas cinema, later known as Sirius, found a new purpose during the restoration of Pardubice Railway Station. We made and installed timber wall and column panelling for the conference hall, bringing together fidelity to the historic design and the needs of a modern venue.

Panelling true to the original

The layout, proportions and moulding profiles follow the original interior design. A regular rhythm of panels continues from the walls onto the columns, bringing the hall together. We paid particular attention to corners, ends and transitions, where the accuracy of each component shapes the appearance of the whole.

The original character, down to the profile

The top moulding of the panelling has a spruce core, oak veneer and solid oak splines. Its profile follows the original interior design. Accurate machining and carefully fitted joints maintain a continuous line along the panelling.

An oil finish that reveals the grain

We finished the timber with oil to bring out the grain and retain its natural appearance. The finish complements the profiles and panel layout without obscuring the character of the material.

Modern services, carefully integrated

The panelling had to accommodate the service runs and fittings needed by a working conference hall. We planned their positions while preparing and installing the components. Power sockets, service openings and connections to other fittings are part of the overall design, just as much as the visible timber surfaces.
